FAQs

Traditionally, a Reuben is made with corned beef, but plenty of people love it with pastrami too. Both bring a salty, savoury punch, but it really comes down to personal taste. Pastrami adds a little more spice and smokiness, which pairs beautifully with the melted cheese and tangy sauerkraut in this Turkish Reuben Sub. Whichever you choose, the magic’s in the layering and that perfect balance of flavour in every bite.

Traditional Reubens often use Russian dressing or Thousand Island, both of which are creamy, tangy and slightly sweet. For this Reuben baguette, we use honey mustard for a twist that adds a sharp, sweet finish and cuts through the richness of the meat and cheese. You could also add a smear of mayo or a little horseradish if you prefer more bite in your lunch.

A soggy Reuben is usually caused by too much moisture, especially from sauerkraut. Make sure to drain the sauerkraut well before adding it to the sandwich. Toasting or grilling the bread can also help add crunch and prevent the sandwich from becoming too soft. In this version, the Turkish baguette offers a sturdy, crisp texture that holds up well to juicy fillings.
