Jaffa Hot Chocolate Recipe

Introduction

Our Jaffa Hot Chocolate is made for those who would rather spend the Easter weekend snuggled up in front of the fire rather than racing around on an Easter egg hunt. It also makes a great dessert to share, so find a friend, put your feet up and indulge with a Jaffa Hot Chocolate using our Choc Chip Hot Cross Buns! The best hot chocolate recipe is creamy, chocolaty, and warming from your head to your toes, and we can say without a doubt that this one ticks all the boxes. We couldn’t resist making it even better though, so we’ve added our signature Choc Chip Hot Cross Buns to top it off! We’ve also added in zesty orange rind and indulgent fresh cream to make it an orange hot chocolate that’ll have you hopping back for more!

FAQs

The best things to put in hot chocolate will depend on the flavours you like. You could try marshmallows, chai spice, orange zest, hazelnut spread, smooth peanut butter, or chilli powder for an extra kick. Or, you can get extra creative (like we have) and add hot cross buns!

The main difference between hot chocolate and hot cocoa is what they’re made from. While hot chocolate is made from melting chocolate into milk or cream, hot cocoa has a powder base of straight cocoa. This means that to get any added sweetness (cocoa on its own is bitter), you need to add in some sugar to taste.

To make hot chocolate from scratch, add your chosen milk, chocolate, and whatever spices or flavourings you’d like in a pan or slow cooker. Heat the mixture up slowly until it’s hot, but not boiling. Pour into your favourite mug, top with cream if you’d like it to be thicker, and sit back to enjoy a delicious, warming hot chocolate.
