FAQs

For the best cheese for toasties, you’ll want something that melts well such as Swiss, fior di latte, Gruyère, Brie or tasty cheese. These will give you the best consistency to enjoy your cheese toasty. Whatever cheeses you choose, cheese toasties make a great lunchtime treat, so have fun experimenting!

To make a triple toastie, start with a bread that’s full of flavour and bite, like our Hi-Fibre Lo-GI White Block Loaf or a crusty Sourdough. Then you’ll need three kinds of cheese, each with different qualities. For stretch, mozzarella is a good choice, with a stronger cheese like tasty or vintage cheddar for bite. For your third cheese something with a different flavour profile like Gruyère will work best

Both grilled cheese and a cheese toastie are packed with melty cheese goodness, but there’s a key difference. A cheese toastie is made with two slices of bread, filled with cheese and toasted or pressed until crisp and golden. A grilled cheese is often pan-fried with butter, but still has two slices of bread and melted cheese inside. Some people also use “grilled cheese” to describe open-faced melts, but a toastie is always a proper sandwich. Either way, it’s hard to go wrong when cheese and bread are involved!
