What is GI?
The Glycemic Index (GI) is a ranking of carbohydrate containing foods based on their effect on blood glucose levels. Low GI food (<55) take longer for the body to digest resulting in gradual rise in blood glucose levels. This keeps you feeling satisfied for longer and provides a longer lasting source of energy.
The benefits of low GI
Research shows that low GI foods can have benefits for health in a number of ways including the following:
